Clearly, this boat has an actual commercial purpose of catching fish that acts as the sole revenue for that family. ![]() The low class Pogues are often found using a very small and simple fishing boat that they steal from one of their dads who is a fisherman. However, the purpose of the boat as well as the quality ranges with socio-economic status. Since this takes place on coastal North Carolina, boats are a common theme throughout this show. Since our main characters identify as Pogues, they are seen as the models as they act as honest, down to earth people with good intentions meanwhile, the opposing Kooks are often found harboring secrets and acting in vile ways.ģ. The characters in this show can be classified into two groups: the Pogues and the Kooks. searching for the money his dad found in order for him to get out of the impoverished situation he lives in, as he lives on his own as a teenager without a steady income or reliable guardians.Ģ. The entire plot of the show revolved around John B. Outer Banks likely reinforces the concept of hegemony in regards to wealth and materialistic goods being a reflection of a person’s value. ![]()
